![]() ![]() ![]() If slavery hadn’t existed, the chances of an African woman being rapedby a white American would have dramatically decreased. However, the authors fail to present any new perspectives.For example, if it weren’t for slavery, there might never have existed African-Americanpeople this classification of people are the result of masters raping their Blackslave women whom were taken unwillingly from their homes, and the consequent childrenthey bear. It is true that texts show a more accurateportrayal of the horrors of slavery and its impact on Black America, and how it wasintolerable to the slave. Unfortunately, they fail to capitalizeon such a potentially positive possibility. ![]() Textbooks and history classes have the opportunity to dispel many of the myths believedtrue of Black individuals and communities. This portion of the project will focus on the underrepresentationof Black names and faces in history, and will discuss how the accomplishments ofBlack people are minimized. For example, a popular radio showcalled "Amos ‘n’ Andy," was based on two white men posing as humorouslyincompetent Black men. Books, television, and even radio shows portrayBlack people as incompetent and unintelligent. In fact, thedomination of "Black" America by "white" America is perhaps themost pervasive theme in our history. Race is an extremely controversial issue throughout the country. ![]()
